“After experiencing the loneliness, despair, hopelessness and anxiety associated with alcoholism, I was desperate to get help. I made the decision in 1997 to get honest with myself that I couldn’t get sober on my own. I needed the direction and care of others and a Higher Power. Since that time, I discovered my calling, getting into service for others like me and their families. I’ve worked with thousands of individuals, hearing stories of their failed attempts at getting sober and seeing what has worked. I appreciate David and Dana’s straightforward, honest approach in their book, “Addiction Rescue: The NO-BS Guide to Recovery.” The book is an easy read of real solutions that can help others who were desperate like I was.”

I really enjoyed reading this book, the title NO BS Guide to Recovery is so fitting and captures the essence of the book. Mr. Marion is very helpful with his questions at the end of each chapter. I also really like the referral to the rules and the actions of addictions. This is a firm foundation for moving forward and getting a handle on a better path! Thank you Mr. Marion for sharing your insight and past struggles.

If you, or someone you love, is wrestling with the life-destroying effects of addiction and substance abuse, this is a must-read guide toward recovery and hope. David had everything -- business success, a happy marriage, great kids -- until his addictions became more important than all of that, and he wound up in a prison cell. How he came back, and now helps others to fight their addictions, is at the core of this book. Remarkably, he was also able to repair his relationships with his daughters and the strong woman who was his wife and is now his co-author. Together they provide an unflinching look at the costs of addiction that will be profoundly helpful to others.

“As a person committed to recovery, the co-owner of intense treatment programs, and having worked with thousands of individuals and family members, I believe it is critical to be honest with people about the stark nature of their disease since their lives are at stake. I appreciate the honesty that David Marion and Dana Golden share in their book, Addiction Rescue: The NO-BS Guide to Recovery. David shares openly about the destruction he caused in his life and the lives of his family members while he was active in his addiction. He then gets into the solution and the transformation. He provides practical, real steps that I know work. Addicts, alcoholics and families who want a way out from the trap of addiction would benefit from reading this book.”

What Others Are Saying About Addiction Rescue
It’s All About Which Wolf You Choose To Feed
There’s an old tale from the Cherokee people called the “Two Wolves.”
One evening, an old Cherokee man told his young grandson about the battle that goes on inside people. “My son, the battle is between ‘two’ wolves inside us all,” he said.
“One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.”
“The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”
The grandfather simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Our Message To You
As co-authors of this book, we’ve included plenty of personal stories that shed light, in sometimes humorous ways, on these underlying principles of addiction and how to overcome it.
From someone (David) who has tried every trick in the book and experienced nearly every negative consequence of addiction (except for the one that would keep me from writing this book) and someone who has witnessed every step of addiction, recovery, and relapse firsthand (Dana), our mission with Addiction Rescue is to give you the tools to feed the right wolf.
